i havent taken the head off of this car but my mechanic friend told me that the heads are hemispherical over the cylinders. i dont know i just wanna get this doubt out of my mind
do we realy drive hemi's?

well, hemi is short for hemispherical, and the dodge hemi has hemispherical combustion chambers, so if our heads have hemispherical combustion chambers, then yes we drive hemi engines

pretty much all cars for the last 20 years have been Hemi's....

exactly, but chrysler uses that as there trademark so no other companies can call there engine a "Hemi" although it might be one.......copyright law

Marketing!!!

They use it to sell more of something by making it more appealing. They just inflated the idea.

Actually there is a difference the old hemi's were low swirl heads and weren't that great for complete air/fuel mixture burn. The 4G63 head is a multi-vavle crossflow head, its close to the pentroof design (Whick most cars have now and have had for a while). It though still similiar to the hemi design but is much more effiecent and swirls the air better for a more complete burn.

The old traditional MoPar Hemis were true hemisherical (domed) combustion chambers. I think for a lack of bettter terminology on my part, I would say that our heads would be a double wedge type head.

Below the head on the Left is a Hemi and the one on the Right is a 4G63. The graphic below is a traditional wedge type head to a ? Double wedge, which is what our heads look like.
