So I bought the eBay special coilovers, and a spring compressor, I have never played with suspensions or lowering kits for any car so its all new to me. But how in the hell do I put these in ? I understand the basics , compressor the spring , take the nut off then the spring , blah blah blah. But the size difference in between the stock springs and the coilovers is huge, like a gallon jug compared to a small water bottle, I searched around to try and find a tech article but I had no luck.

I assumed when I bought these, it was like. Compress, switch springs and compress again and voila , is there custom fab required? Do I need the take the perch off of the stock unit? Or does the bew spring sit inside of it ?

I appreciate the insight! A few things to note, both front struts are mostly blown so comparing ride quality is going to be useless . I wasn't obsessed with these , its just the fact that I allready had them sitting in front of my face so I just thought I need to at least try them, paying return shipping just made sending them back inefficient.

If I would have had this thread prior to purchase I wouldn't have made the purchase.

Another thing. Where the strut bolts ay the bottom is rusted severly bad. And I am going to scrap these things soon I am just trying to decide wether or not to put these on the new struts I have ( brand is Monroe ?? )

I am still working , as soon as I get home ill take it for a spin and let you know. I will have it aligned but not yet I am.going to pick a tire size and rim , and adjust the suspension to where it needs to be first...

Could be worse , saw this thing yesterday

Talk about tire wear. On the highway doing 90.

My advise is throw them away. Your car will be swinging left to right. Look at the springs. It will also destroy your shocks. I know from experience.

Haha you people crack me up so much ROFL. I guess we didn't see the multiple post saying my struts were blown already . And they were rusted and going to be replaced soon. I wish I never spray painted it. But it had a blue fender white fender red bumper. By the time I replaced all the dented body panels it looked like a bad of skittles. So I just spray painted it black. This was 5+ years ago also . Like I said wish I never did it but I did.

And I'm obviously not going to jack my car back up and take all of.my suspension back out and throw away these coilovers until after I have alleady tested them. What do you mean when you say look at them ? What am I looking for ?

And throw them away ?. Wouldn't returning them be a better option ? Or did you just kinda want to jump on the band wagon too ?

Update: a little 10 minute drive around my neighborhood, wasn't even as bad as i was expecting it to be. my struts are blown so before hand on the oem my car was pretty bouncy, it isnt as bouncy any more and i know its irrelevant because of the fact that my struts were blown and still are. there is of course that bang when you hit a large dip in the road , i believe its just because of the lack of travel in the suspension.

I tried to take a sharp corner at a decent speed to test that aspect out, until i again realized that i dont have power steering. ROFL i didn't get to launch the car. just wasnt safe or smart tonight. i have a video that is uploading of the ride, i'll post it when its finished

mostly just cruising, pulls at 3:12 and 8:50

This coilover kit is still in one piece, no failures. i did have a clutch failure and i am going to be putting in some sort of twin disc in march. so the engine is out of the car and its getting a fuse box relocation, wire tuck , and engine bay paint.

just incase you wanted to see how these springs do in the future i have linked my build thread!

I got a set of those from my ex one christmass and some tokico blues.. i got all the same "you'll die" "throw them away" etc.... but one person (paul volk a.k.a 99_gstracer) gave me some good advice

here's what i learned from him and anthoer member, it's the springs that are junk and break, toss em out, get you some hyperco coil over springs (6" long will allow you to use the coil over adjustment, i bought 8" which was too long and required major mods to use them but thankfully i have amachine shop)

the cheap coil overs, run with hyperco springs lasted just fune, the shocks actually blew before i had any ssues with the coil overs..

that's the best info i have and it worked great for me, but the springs in those coil kits ARE JUNK i didn't run mine but i've got a friend with them on his honda an they are stiff and bouncy as hell, haven't seen one break yet but i've heard they do

best of luck, don't get discouraged and make the best of what you've got

I bought a pair of cheap ebay coilovers and as soon as j pulled out of my driveway I pulled back In and took them off. It was terrible. You can get a good pair of Megan lowering springs for about 100 bucks and they feel a lot better than the cheap coilovers. I wouldn't go with them unless you have the 900 dollars to get real ones.

I swear to god some of you must not even be reading the thread, only the title.. I have had these one for a little bit now, and the ride isn't that bad at all. My only concern is the strength of the kit. Not the ride.. again... It had been mentioned several time throughout this thread.

I want to wait until my car hits the track before deciding to keep these or not.

I agree sir that is priceless. They didnt seem liked the road to bad and I agree I wanna know how the launch goes when you get the chance. Obviously wont be till spring. Good luck sir and let us know.
