cheapo car cheap springs?

hey guys ive got a 93 laser that i got for very very super cheap from a friend. ive got a ton of mods to it already, unfortunatly its a na automatic. i painted the stock hubcaps black, tinted 20% all the way around, got 6000k low and high beam hids as well as 6000k H3 foglight projectors. I just installed clear corners with leds, and audi r8 light strips in the front.. I also have 2 12 in kenwood subs in the back, i chopped the airbox up a bit for some more air, and looking to get headers soon because of an exhaust leak.

my main concert is the 100% shot suspension, i deliver pizza so im in the car 247.

because i paid so little for this car, and have done all mods myself using leftover parts from other cars (most of the hids and leds are off my last car) i really dont want to spend alot of money.

I saw these ebay springs:

and i would like to know if anyone has tried them. PLEASE spare me the usual "oh they are dangerous and a risk to others" or whatever, ive used ebay coilovers before and they are not too bad just a shitty ride (used on stock struts though so thats expected)

I just want to know what struts i could pair with these, and if they are total crap or not. I dont picture me having this car for more than 2 or 3 years so i dont wanna sink serious money into it thats why i made this thread even after reading all the thread about how bad these springs are or whatever, i want to know if anytone has used these specific springs and if they are ok for a cheap build like i am doing.

For that price I'd say no...

If you want something cheap and very effective I'd check out Goldline's springs

They're cheap and work great...

$10 ebay springs is just ASKING for trouble..

Get megan racing lowering springs, their like $110 shipped on ebay.

Make sure you get upgraded struts like the AGXs, otherwise you'll blow them out in a year and be back to square one.
Even with the AGXs megan racing's 2" drop - or any 2" drop is a bit extreme, If your looking for reliability with good ride comfort spend the extra $ and get eibach springs and KYB AGXs.

This is one subject where you really do "get what you pay for".

ok so ive defiently decided not to spened alot here, i am going to go with the megan racing springs, and now if im correct the agx struts are about $600! im looking to spend like $200 on struts max and i really dont mind the ride as long as its not complete teeth chattering im young it really isnt a big deal for me, i just want the car low and handling better.

I went with AGX's with Eibach pro kit and it feels like a very good setup.. But If I could do it all over, I would of just went with a coil over setup for another $150-$200!!

could i use springtech struts with the megan springs?

They look like cheap OEM replacements. Any OEM or slightly stiffer than OEM strut combined with a 2" drop is asking for bad news. Struts designed for lowering springs are shorter and have stiffer dampening to accommodate to the changed spring rate.

Yes, you can choose any strut you want and pair it with any set of extreme springs - in the end your going to blow out the struts.

Something like a 1 - 1.5" drop and you'll have better success, but no guarantee.


Try searching on this subject and find the thousands of members who blow out GR2s because they drop them 2".

Might try your luck with DSM graveyard, or a pick-n-pull...Cheap sets of lowering springs are everywhere, but remember that you get what you pay for

If you cut the bump stops correctly you shouldnt have problems bottoming out. Even with some gr2's you can get away with with a 2 inch drop (depending vehicle weight) but i agree its a little extreme for a 1g.
