Hey guys, I am about to make a move across three states and I want to get a really nice car cover for my 2G Eclipse GSX. I was wondering what you guys recommend for a nice fitting and quality cover I can put over it during the move as I am sure it will be subjected to tons of road grime and dirt especially going over the Sierras and then the Rockies. Hoping maybe for a tighter fitting one with some holes around the bottom I can put some bungie cords on so it does not fly off too. Thank you everyone.

There are a ton of different car covers out there to choose from. Your 2G Eclipse GSX is 172.2 inches or 15.2 feet long so keep that in mind. One thing I want to warn you about is what can happen during traveling. The cover you need must fit very tightly to the vehicle. Air can get in there and balloon the cover and as it is moving across your paint it acts just like sandpaper. You will also want a cover that can be used outdoors. The cover I suggest is in the link I provided.
You may think I'm crazy but I will mention this anyways...Once you have your car on the trailer and the cover is installed...take it to a place that wraps boats for winter storage. They will vacuum wrap it and you will be guaranteed it will not move... This will be best to protect your paint...

No, you're not crazy. Almost suggested the same thing when he listed what the car would be exposed to on the open trailer.

The trick is to find a cover in stock. Been looking for one for one of our full sized cars for months now.

So update on the cover.. this is the one I went with,

Favoto Full Car Cover Sedan Cover...

I liked that it ties to the spokes on the rims for extra holding strength. Also I used ratchet tie downs and here is version 1.0

Well got to the summit of Donner Pass and stopped at a rest stop. Found that the front tie down and the one running under the car from the front to the back had totally slipped off and the cover had been slapping up to the upper tie down. So now on to revision 1.2 which is no under tire down running the length of the car but placing that one over the front of the hood. Also found that the zipper had come open so I repositioned the middle tie down to cover the zipper.

More to come. After this it’s a whole lot of down hill and then nothing in Nevada LOL.

So final review on the cover is that it works VERY well when tied down correctly. The zipper def has to have a tie down on the zipper and the strap going up around on top ON the seam. Also I have a poly front bumper on and I used the ratchet tie down to get it very very tight on the very front to keep the cover from blowing up. I am not sure of it would be too much pressure for the oem bumper. But Luna made it all the way to CO without any scratches and the car stayed extremely clean. The underside stayed mint as well.

I know this may seem silly to some people giving a complete journey story of the cover across the states but if it helps just one person feel comfortable it is worth the effort.

Your post is not silly at all... You don't know how many people I know that have traveled a short distance and then find out their cover scratched the heck out of their paint job. Just leaving my car parked with a soft cover on it out in the parking lot caused damage to my paint. Glad that your trip was successful without any damage.
