Hi there, I'm puting back a little bit of money to paint my car. And I would really like to paint my car a shade of neon orange. It sounds bisarre but I'm not the only dsm owner I've seen that wants or has an orange eclipse. Everyone I ask about it says it will ugly and some say its rice..:ohdamn: so I need your opinions please! Tell me what u think!

I think if you do it in a nice metallic burnt orange like the top eclipse and make sure to fix any dings or dents, get some good quality paint, and have a good painter who won't skimp on the prep work and leave all kinds of masking lines in door jambs and under the hood I wouldn't call it rice. I don't think what color you go with would be "rice" unless its done over dents or just a bad job. Pink can look good if its executed properly! Both of those cars look good to me. Not much for body kits, but its not my car. If it will look good to you, DO IT!! Just know that that color will attract scrutiny because its so bright. So make sure you represent and make it beautiful buddy!! Also, a good wetsand and buff will make those metallic flakes POP!!

Thanks, i like the top one better too. And i am currently in school for collision repair so i can do everthing myself at my school.. all tools are supplied so i can make sure dents are out and taped up good. Thanks for the opinion, i dont think im doing a bodykit but maybe a carbon fibre lip... Worst part is its gonna be a cop magnet.LOL

I'm not much for non metalic orange, but id say as long as you don't have crazy graphics on it and a huge wing out back, like that car, id still dig it. Even if you want to do those things (as much as it would pain me to see it on a dsm) its your car bro! If you like it. Screw everyone who hates.

Thanks man. I'm not much for all that stuff. On another car maybe but I like the clean look on a dsm. Why spend all that money on stickers and bodykits and aluminum spoilers when u can build ## motor with the same money

If you like a bright, and not so ricey Orange Color (Trust me, I love orange, my room is painted orange)

Try The Mazdaspeed Protege Spicy Mica Orange

IMO: BEST looking MSPs of ALL TIME (each color)

I always had these visions if I bought an Evo, I would definitely have it sprayed that color, but please, you go first and tell me how it turns out. :D

Neon orange is rice IMO, but you could go another shade of orange that isn't so obnoxiously loud though and it wouldn't be rice. A burnt orange wouldn't be bad, or a red with orange pearl.

These orange pearl colors hard huge in the hotrod low rider and euro super car scene. I dont see how if you put it on a 2g dsm, supra or 240 makes it rice.

+1

It looks sweet if all the prep and body work was done right.

Personally, and with a couple of exceptions, I feel like metallic and pearl paints look best on curvy cars like ours. Flat paints look at bit flashy on a curvy car, and are much better suited to angular cars like that Civic, Evos, etc.

There are obviously a couple of exceptions for black, white, and reds, but for the most part, I would steer clear of flat colors.

That said, it's your car! Do to it as you wish! :thumb:

Ok, thanks for the opinions. i appreciate it. i also saw a gold one that looked sick. but im still undecided on what to do.. i might just repaint it like a metalic while and see how that looks. but i really want a nice orange...

I personally like a pearl white with a bit of red candy coating in it. I really just like something thats very clean.

Who cares what people say about your car bro!!!

Your car, your paint job, your money!

Do what you please, don't please others!

Also the first pic is extremely bright ROFL!
