Opinions on Engine block and head colors

it depends on the color of your car imo. i first had a green 2g but i knew i wanted to go blue and silver so i painted alot of things blue the get started. later on i got a silver 2g swapped my motor and repainted the car. i would think of a paint scheme you like and go with it.

I have a mostly blue aluminum theme going on right now. Maybe ill paint the block a dark blue and grayish head

I have a black engine bay, so I painted the block a semi gloss black, along with my intake, and other accesories. I will be leaving the head and trans the bare aluminium color.

I have always wanted a black/aluminium look engine bay. So heres my chance. LOL

What colors? My brother said I should do Red or orange block with gray / aluminum head

i think aluminum head is the only way to go, paint the valve cover the same color as the block and tie it into what you have going already. i went with blue and chrome with silver to tie it in. it all depends on what you think looks best.

I like a light grey block and std aluminum head. The lighter color helps makes spotting leaks easier than black.

Ford Dark blue on the block, and other cast iron parts.
Leave the Aluminum parts Aluminum

Maybe it's because I'm a Cummins guy, but bright red with bits of polished stainless always pleases my eye

Since this thread was already bumped and I'm currently painting my setup, I went with a gloss black engine block and a pearl white powdercoated valve cover. The head and transmission are aluminum and should be kept their natural color, as stated before.

Since nobody has actually posted pics yet... its in a black gst. Haven't had to pull the motor yet but it will probably just be freshened up with "aluminum" color paint when I do, keep the focus on the top but look clean.

you can't go wrong with a good ole' coat of silver! Always looks clean and fits with any bay color. I do really like a tastefully done "colored" block also though.

For aluminum in general I say clean, polish, or powder coat. Painted aluminum heads rarely stay looking good for long. For the block I'd suggest black. IMO brightly painted blocks are tacky and usually end up looking gross from spills and leaks. I'd rather hide the block so it doesn't draw focus away from things like the turbo.

And of course I won't miss a chance to show off my engine bay. :D

I painted my block white and clear coated it, and It actually looked really good. But the heat turned the clear a little brownish, so now my block looks like a toasted marshmallow LOL.

IMO throwing bright colors that doesn't match your car looks bad. Simple always looks more clean, and too much color is a bad thing.
