When I got home from work this afternoon, I happened to notice that there was something sticking out from the joint between my decklid and wing. It looked like weatherstripping, but since I wasn't sure, I gave it a gentle tug to see if it was attached to anything. Sure enough, a piece about four inches long came out. Looks a -lot- like some sort of weatherstripping, so that's what I'm assuming. There was another piece sticking out, which I (VERY CAREFULLY) tucked back in with a mini-screwdriver.

IS there some weatherstripping between the wing and decklid? And if so, is it important enough that I should look into fixing it?

It was either weatherstripping or adhesive. If you need to replace the strip, just get yourself some silicone sealant and reseal your decklid.

Thing is, it's not my decklid that the strip came out of. I'd know for sure if that was weatherstripping. I'd have to be an idiot not to. Maybe I didn't explain it clearly enough, and my apologies if I didn't. The strip that came out looked like some kind of thin foam attached to a clear wax paper-like stuff. It's about a 16th of an inch thick, and maybe a quarter inch wide or so. Which makes me wonder if it's weatherstripping, or simply something to keep the wing from wrecking the paint on the deck lid.

Is it possible to remove the wing from the 95/96 Talons to inspect what's under there? I bet it collects dirt and crap rather like a bed liner in a truck. Probably a big problem spot for rust. Thanks again guys.

Yeah, you can remove the spoiler from the deck. They do put a foam type material down to bolt the lid down to NOT scratch the paint.
