tie rod? could be a few things, why dont you jack it up and see what seems to be broken? Or throw some pics here :thumb:
 
My best guess would be lower ball joint, but again it could be your tie rod end or anything else. You will be able to see it almost immediately.
 
The lower curved control arm bushings tend to fall apart. Then the arm will fall off and cause what you have. Or the tie rod broke.

I have yet to see a damaged bushing in the curved arm. The straight arm's do have serious ball joint issues, but that is about it.
 
+1 on the straight arm ball joint failing. Same thing happened to me and that was the cause.
