  so my car ran like shit, pulled the code for mas, replace mas and ran great untill turbo supposed to kick in and i heard a big woosch, intake mani gasket leak, replaced mani gasket and got everything back togater, and when i tried to start it it didn't sound right...maybe not enough fuel??? white smoke came out kinda where the exhaust mani is.

I need help! i checked all my connctions whats wrong.

starting to think i should've let the shop just get this thing running

i would start with that also. and also check to a VISUAL chekc thats is a goodthing to start with specially when shit like this happens look and evaluate. Most of the time you can see the visually see problems

sorry guys 97 eclipse gsx 16g and supporting mods

coolent runs through the manifold correct, what if somehow that got blocked, maybe installed the gasket wrong, collent also runs through the t.b. dunno just thinking....white smoke= coolent

okay doing compression test today...but obviously need alot of help...on the guide you gave me it said to uplug the mpi fuse, i couldn't find it on my fuse box.

I know for 1g it's right off the positive terminal on the battery but 2g is different, Some one else will have to chip in on that.

i just pull the Ecu fuse on my 2g...its the blue fuse under were all of the fuses are under the hood..and u can find it cuz thiers that diagram on the top of the plastic cover :thumb:

sorry guys never got to the compression test cause i didn't know what fuse to pull (i do now) i did a boost leak test and air was coming from somewhere around the intake mani/throttle body, took everything apart and put new gaskets on. Yay it idles and runs great...untill the turbo is supposed to kick in, hestitate then won't drive any faster. a little white smoke. theres no shaft play. could my turbo be bad?

Check to see if you popped the oil seals in the turbo itself, froze the bearings, or locked the wastegate open. Also, you DO have an aftermarket boost gauge, right? What's it reading when you're pulling WOT?

yes i have a boost gauge, at wot i don't get any boost, it is still vacum whereas before the i fixed the intake mani leak i was getting 2psi then nothing.

How much pressure were you able to hold when you decided you were done with the leak test?

i didn't have someone in the car the last time, but when i first did it, with the same air compressor settings, it was at 12 psi or so.

Re-do the boost leak test and fix all leaks until you can reasonably hold 20 psi in the system, I'm almost certain that there are more leaks to be discovered.

edit: Go by the boost gauge in the car, not on the air compressor.

i agree with talesin...check your WG and the acuator, if the arm is not connected to the flapper dont expect to make any boost :)

Okay this sucks, finally after doing a leak test (no leaks) i took it to a shop they say the signal from mas to the ecu is lost through the safc. they are not a tuning shop they hooked up the mas directly to the ecu and it ran fine. has anybody ever heard of s-afc's going bad.?  i'll double check the wiring with them. apexi said it's possable that the safc could've gone bad but the 3month warrenty is long expired.

I dont see why its not possible for the s-afc to go bad because its electronics and electronics dont alwayse work :p , but basically the signal isnt lost from the Mas to the ECU its just that u are able to adjust the computer into thinkin how much air is actually entering the mas, which then compensates for how much fuel to dump through the injectors into the engine...hence why it is refured to as a "piggy back" because it refures to the fact that it uses and idolizes the stock ECU.

okay, i get how the piggyback works, but why does it run like crap when the mas is wired throught the afc but when the mas is wired directly to the ecu it runs fine WTF

you have to adjust the settings yourself, or the afc is faulty or a wire is not connected corrected properly?

are u running stock injectors? if you are then u really dont need an afc.

no 650cc injecters, 20 psi 17psi high/low boost. safc has been in for like 10k and car has been tuned. wires are hooked up right. i'm borrowing my friends safc tommow and see if it fixs the problem
