oil pump not pumping need primed?

pulled the motor out to do some stuff to the car oil pump worked 2 years ago when it last ran i changed the ofh to 90 to run an external cooler now it wont pump oil car ran for a few minutes pulled the oil filter and its bone dry do i need to prime the oil pump or could it have just gone bad any way to test it i pulled numorus oil lines and cranked the motor and nothing help please!

It sounds like you need to prime the pump, yes. Since the pump is already installed, I'm going to give you the cheater's method for priming it. Take off your brake booster nozzle on the back of your intake manifold, and bolt it in place of your oil pressure sensor. Use a pump and pump oil through that nozzle - pump a lot of it in there. Put everything back how it was and crank it - you should have oil pressure then!
 
^^^ luckly i just filled it with oil when we attempted to start it so everything should be ok and i think i cought it before it was to late.

So if the oil pump is not primed it will not pump oil at all?
 
used the cheater method primed the pump cranked it with no plugs in and now have oil pressure thank you all
