My oil pump is leaking from what I can tell behind the rubber seal behind the timing belt gear. I replaced the seal and it still leaked a little. I then replaced the seal and added some rtv to try and seal it up a little better, still leaking. so I then decided to try and load rtv behind the seal and the oil sprays out even worse now. unfortunatly the only thing I can think of now is that Im going to have to get a new front cover and see if that works. I dont really have time to do it myself now and dont have alot of money to get it done. Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do???!!!

also if it matters I only have about 500 miles on new block so all that stuff is new.

yes the seal was seated properly. and no a shop didnt do it, me and a guy I use to work with did the install, but he is unable to help me out for a while.

I'd really hate to have to put a new front cover on, but if thats the problem has anyone replaced a front cover without pulling the motor???

i just got done last night. it is possible to do the front cover without removing the motor. it's pretty much like doing the timing belt except you remove the tensioner pulley, and the 12 mm and 14 mm bolts for the front case. much easier doing the oil pan gasket ( RTV) at the same time. i found myself unable to remove the front case until i removed the oil pan. the front case likes to stick and sometimes gets stuck in the baffle area inside the pan from the pick up being connected. if you do not have an aftermarket pick up, or asuming... dare i say it... arp mains, then you have to remove the oil pan. there's no way to remove the front case if the pick up is still bolted to the main stud ( stock motor ).

I am on my 3rd time doing this job. You definitely have to remove the oil pan, water pump pulleys, ac tensioner pulley, and crank pulley. Then the timing belt cover comes off. Next is the tensioner, tensioner pulley, and crank sprocket. It's a lot of work to get it off in the car but I'd rather suck it up then have to pull the motor.
