Oil Pump/Front Case

I'm really considering it, even though it's a hassle. There's really no reason a new pump should be stained, nicked and scratched like that. Makes me question its history.

If I had 250 bucks I'd break down and buy a Mitsu one, but since I'm broke I'll settle for the Hyundai. I guess Hyundais are not dropping every 10k miles with oil pump failure, so it should work... I just prefer the mitsu design. Feels like it's made better, with a nicer casting, bronze bushings, etc. I also like the idea of straight cut gears better since the helicals will load against the side of the housing and presumably wear more.

I hear you man, its hard to pay that extra amount for the OEM Mitsu pump when there deosn't seem to be that much of a difference.

It does make me feel a lot better that this is actually the OEM Hyundai pump.

I did find out that 1990 to 91 Talons had the straight cut gears and then in 92 Mitsu changed to the slanted gears to get rid of the whining straight cut gears were making. When I talked to Mitsu they told me that they can't even order the straight cut gears anymore and that the slanted gears replace them.

If you look at the mentor mitsu link I posted above, with the 25% discount they give on parts, the pump comes out to be like 175$

That's just the cover man. It's an extra 60 for the gears. We went over this before :)

I have a top line front cover and here are some pics....
Note the grind spots, looks the same from the hyundai (posted by kar king)
