Just installed my oil pump cover, I reused the hard O-ring on the castle plug. The o-ring itself looked square and I was not aware it was a standad type o-ring so I reused it.

I plan on replacing this of course now that I know it's a leaking point.

Anyway.... can I impact the oil pulley off and impact it back on? Or do I have to remove the oil pump plate assy? I have a calibrated electric impact gun that I can set to 35-40 ft lbs....

Thanks

You can impact if off it wont hurt the pump any just try to hold the pulley and hold it with a rag and take a 1/2" impact gun to it so the nut comes off right away. Did you pre pack the oil pump gears and shafts?? If not pull it all apart and pack em.
Putting it back on clean the threads with break clean and use a little loctite blue on the threads and zap it back on with the impact. You can also tighen it back up when the timing belt is on so it stays still ..
I like to final tighten it back up when the timing belt is on it so I have more control of it . It only needs to be 25 ft lbs.

I went ahead and used the old timing belt to hold it in place zipped it right off. Just wrapped it around the oil pump and up around the cam gears, then wedged it over the motor mount and held it in place.

Doing it this way I was able to get a torque wrench on it afterward. Using the old belt is the way to go!

I always pack the oil pump with petroleum jelly.

Thanks
