oil pressure

so im driving along and notice that my oil pressure rises almost all the way up on the factory gauge stay there for about 2 min then drops back down around normal then about 10 min goes by and it dose it again. when it dose it the car still sound, feels normal, no funny noises, nothing like that. i have looked at the conection wire for the sending unit and its all good so any ideas

My first idea would be to find someone (i.e. a friend or a junkyard) and swap out the oil sender unit. I had an oil leak and have been watching the oil pressure gauge like a hawk. Yet I've noticed that even though I know im really low on oil, it doesnt seem to change much. I'd think about picking up an aftermarket one. I might do the same soon. I have no idea how accurate a 15 yr old/148k mile gauge could still be.

Other then that there might be "cholesterol" of sorts in an oil line somewhere? I have no knowledge to back that up, or even experience. But if oil congealed, then heated up and broke down....just my .02

The aftermaket pressure gauge is probably the best route to go, I have some issues with the factory unit as well. It reads really low at cruising speeds and my decision is to go with an aftermarket setup to be sure.

so whats a good oil pressure gauge that isn't to pricey
