oil pressure toohigh at high rpm in high gears

i was on my way to the track last nite, following 2 or my buddies in their 2gs. were cruising at like 90-95 mph most of the way. so they dipped off through traffic, and i easily catch up(both of them are still on the stock t25), but notice that my stock oil pressure guage had pegged itself all the way to high.

so i let off the gas and dropped down to abut 75 and the oil pressure settles back down to normal arter about 30 seconds to a min. it bothered me, and on the way home i checked to see when exactly it was raising.
well, it sems that any time i get over abour 3800 rpm in 4th or 5th gear(which is always in boost or very close to zero, above 3800rpm in 5th i hit 1 psi of boost at 20% throttle) my oil pressure starts rising fairly quickly and pegs the stock guage within a 10 seconds.
it doesnt do it in second, but second gear in my car goes by really fast, maybe 1 second from 3k to 6500.

does anyone have any ideas why my oil pressure goes up like this? because this just doesnt seem normal to me, my last tsi never did this, and i have never noticed this tsi do it before.

Nice that you take the occasional glimpse at the gauge. If you're not checking them twice a minute, you may as well throw them away.

However, although it might be a sticking or seized pressure relief, it's most likely your pressure sender.

Expect very little from factory gauges, and they'll never disappoint you.
 
i glance at my guages constantly, the stock guage goes from sitting straight up, to pegging all the way high in a matter of 15 seconds.
i was cruising at about 85-90 for at least 5 min with no prob, but when i got on it a little bit, and got above 4k in boost, it went all the way up. had to do 80 all the way back, and if i hit it in 5th for 5 seconds the stock guages needle would go fron straight up in the middle to at or above the second dash.

it doesnt seem to do it in third, or any gear below that, but they go by quickly and arent in high rpm long. i guess ill pick up an aftermarket oil pressure guage, since i need a second one to fill my center vent pod anyway, and see what that shows.

it might be the pressure switch, cause it seems to only do it sometimes.
sunday, it didnt it in 4th and 5th gears, but didnt do it in third. today i ran 3rd all the way out getting on the highway comming home from work, and it didnt do it. then i got into it in 4th, and a few minutes later i got up to almost 4500 in 5th, and the pressure didnt raise up.
it seemed like it was related to being above 4k i 5th for a long period of time. but that doesnt explain why it did it sunday but not today.

i think im gonna buy an aftermarket oil pressure guage and see what it says. cause i was gonna buy either that, or a fual pressure guage to fill the second hole on my vent pod and put my egt in the car. ill see what it says, and go from there
 
^ You get that gauge yet? I have been wondering the same thing about my car. When I am cruising around 80-85 the oil gauge goes to the second highest line, which is right below the "high" area. I figured it was just normal for our cars to do that because around town and racing it is always hovering right in the middle or sometimes up to three quarters.
