oil pressure problems 1.8L

alright i gota 1.8L engine and it idles at about 600-700 rpm, it sometimes has a rough idle but that doesnt bother me any, what bothers me is when it idles its oil pressure goes up only a quarter was from L mark, its half way to the mark where it should be... when the engine runs over 1k rpm its back up and fine. Is it the oil pump or is this how it should run? my ranger doesnt do this :\ i just need the damn engine to last me till the summer casue im doing a swap to 2.0 turbo. also the engine leaks around the head gasket quite a bit...

I don't know if this is what you're talking about, but in my manual (I have a 1.8 as well) it says that the needle should be between the bottom and the first line at idle, and at 3k or above between the last two. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

thanks for the info man i hope that is true becasue thats how mine is...n i need to warm it up for atleast 10 mins before i got to school to get all the damn ice off of the windsheild etc...so i sits idling for 10 mins every day...better not seize it self while doing it

what engine oil do u use

mobil 1 10-30 fully synthetic. Wix filter. The car also has 140k miles on it. original engine

I have a 1.8l aswell...well HAD now i have a empty engine bay ( in process of 2.0 swap) i had low oil preasure JUST like you discribed...then the the conecting rod bearing on cyl 2 went out and took a SOLID chunk out of my engine the size of a half dollar hence the 2.0 swap....i dont know what caused it,but i had 150K miles on the dot....no answer...just a heads up.
