oil pressure possibly too high "ive searched"

heres the story i was on my way to pick up an aftermarket oil pressure gauge (prosport) when all of a sudden when i get back in the car and start it my stock gauge quit (whats the odds of that it was working). I decided that maybe my oil pump (bshafts are in) went so i changed it along with installing the prosport gauge and taking the stock sender out and installing the prosport sender in its location now hears my problem.

I see 80-95 psi when cold (using 10w-30) i live in florida temps outside now are around 50-65 degrees when it warms up i see 10-12 psi. when i give it gas the psi doubles meaning if im at 2500 rpm then the gauge is at 50psi +/- a psi or two. Ive researched on this site and i see that for the most part the general rule of thumb is 10psi for every 1000 rpm if this is correct then why is mine doubled? if 10psi per 1000 rpm is the rule of thumb is this at the ofh or at the head that its a rule of thumb ### it will not be the same at the head. Its just scaring me ### the oil pressure now that i can see actual numbers im just not sure if its okay i also see where some guys are running 2 gauges would it just be as effective to run one at the head instead then double the psi and thats what your ofh is seeing. Should i run the gauge at the head and fix the factory one? again is this my problem or is my pressure too high. im still driving the car but im staying off boost until i can get some better answers any help would be appreciated thanks for your time.
 
Your grammar is a little tough, let me make sure I got this clear...
Your engine still has functioning balance shafts.
When the engine is warm, you see 10-12psi oil pressure at idle and 50psi at 2500.
You changed the oil pump at the same time you changed the pressure sending unit.

I'm thinking that your gauge wiring or sending unit is the issue. Did you wire the gauge's ground to a chassis ground or to the negative battery post? I think your gauge is seeing double the correct supply voltage somehow.
 
Its a new oil pump with a new prosport oil pressure gauge along with the sender that was provided with the gauge (its mounted where the old factory sender was so im not using the factory gauge) and yes those are the numbers that im seeing.
 
Also sorry for the grammar and the ground for the gauges is grounded to the chassis. Is this maybe the problem?
 
The marks on the oil pump, crank, balance shaft and cams line up i made sure of that even rotated the crank six times to confirm all marks line up. The pump is aftermarket (Mellings) from advance auto parts. The factory sender is out and replaced with the sender that was provided with the gauge in the factory senders spot.
 
I'm inclined to blame that pump, but maybe someone who's actually used anything besides OEM would be less biased.

I know Melling makes a high volume oil pump for the 4g63. However, they also incorrectly listed 92-94 applications as using the 6 bolt engine. Now, I don't want to speak for anyone else here, but that really doesn't instill the most confidence in them in my mind. Just a suggestion, but they might want to know which cars have the engine their particular pump fits on.

Is the high volume Melling pump what you bought? Might be the reason your pressure is so high...

Anybody have any personal experience with the Melling pump?
 
well i looked up the oil pump at summit raceing the part number is M198 and it says standard volume any other ideas? Will i get the same oil pressure at the head?
 
I went and put another stock oil sender back in the original location and now the stock gauge works. I put the aftermarket sender in between the oil filter and ofh and the readings are fine. I geuss since ive been used to looking at the stock gauge and once i put the aftermarket gauge in and was able to see exactly (numbers) what the pressure was made me think it was high. Now i have both gauges working my plan is to probably move the aftermarket sender to the head. Does this sound like a good idea? This thread is resolved and sorry about the confusion.
