Regina,
Hey Everyone, this is my first post as you can tell. I bought an Eagle Talon TSi AWD, it was good until just recently. My problem is my oil pressure gauge is on the wack, and it is not doing me justice. "Is it an aftermarket gauge?" yes it is(It's a GlowShift brand pretty sure it was purchased off ebay).
Okay first of all my problem, as best as i can explain. So when i start my car in the morning(since its a bit cooler up here) my oil pressure gauge starts at the 100 mark(or above not sure that's the highest reading)and as the car starts to warm it makes its way to nearly or just on 0. At that point my car is somewhat running fine(my idle is rough and a little bit low, may be another problem or maybe related?). But if i even tap the gas pedal it shoots up to the high end of the gauge, like its burying its needle on the other side. So i read online for a couple days figured maybe its the oil pressure gauge switch. So i went to NAPA and got another one for 1xx.xx dollars? so today i got under there and found where its suppose to go only to notice the one on there Isn't original and looks completely different. I just want my gauge to work again if it ever was hooked up right?
This is what I have tried, tell me if I'm going in the right direction. okay so with the sending unit i picked up for NAPA attached I followed the wires from my gauge to their locations. There was three; Positive, Negative, and one had a G on it so I'm guessing that's short for gauge. I ignored the positive and negative wires because they are hooked up correctly to make them glow. I followed the little black "gauge" wires all the way down to the sending unit and connected it to the new sending unit(oh the new sending unit has one connectors where the old one had two connectors on it). I turned the key to the on position and noticed the gauge had gone from all the way up(not connected) to all the way down to zero. So I turned on the car and watched the gauge but it didn't do anything it just sat at zero????
I JUST WANT THIS GAUGE TO WORK PROPERLY!!!!!
Please help if you can, it would be greatly appreciated.
