I got a small leak right under where the bellhousing meets the transmission, it is slightly dirty, so i am guessing it is trans fluid(gear oil)....because i have a completly new motor, and the motor oil is still clean and clear....any guess as to what it could be? It looks like it is leaking right where they meet, and it only leaks after driving....once car has sat for a little while, the leak stops.

mines leaking from there too. Mine leaks trans fluid. I dropped the transfer case and it's coming from the shaft that goes into the transfer case. Not sure what I can do about it ... it's very minor but still pisses me off.

yea...further investigation looks like it is running down the back side of the trans, and dripping down there....still cant tell exactly what the leak is thouh.......motor oil and gear oil are just too alike

its coming from right around the waterpipe where it runs to the heater hose, cant tell what it is still, gonna have to buy some dye.

^^ agree, i really dont think it would be tranny fluid if its coming from that high on the engine. I would say coolant or possibly oil.

well....i dyed the oil, and it is dripping off the back of the head, right above the waterpipe, then dripping down onto that and the tranny.......i still cant see exactly where it started...i know it is right by there, but i cant see with the engine bays so dam compact...LOL....ah well, back to the garage...thanks guys

alright well, i found the leak.....oil....it was coming from a plug that is right under/behind the CAS on the passanger side of the head.....ive only got 60 miles on my new motor, and it didnt start leaking there until after like 20.....so i figured.....ive got prothane motor mounts and balance shafts removed, so that causes alot of vibration, so im guessing that vibration just shook it loose, i tightened it up, and no more leak!!!........well i guess now is a good time to nut and bolt the car and make sure everything is tight....LOL....thanks again guys

output shaft bearing,

It may only leak a little now but one random day you will have a pool of shinky mess under your car:thumb:

not hard, just time cosuming......going to have to take the tranny off to do it

damnit!! .. Is there a seal or anything after the bearings? The reason I ask is because it didn't leak before the rebuild and I haven't driven the car yet after the rebuild. I just put fluid in and the car has been sitting ever since. Damn trans

my bad, i thought u were saying it was the input shaft .........but u said output shaft which is the one that connects to the transfer cases.....that one wont be nearly as hard/ time consuming......almost positive all you have to do is drop the transfer case, and replace it......a shop manual has step by step on how to do it.....can get em for like $15 at any autozone, pep boys, car quest....ect...

whew ... that's much better. I dropped that trans 3 times in the last 6 months. ( and the car has had 0 miles put on it since ... ) :thumb:
