k my motor which has around 10 000km or like 6000mile since the rebuild seems to use oil. i don't see any blue smoke at idle or when i drive, but when i floor the car i get a cloud of smoke which looks like garish black, which is fuel. i checked my compression and it was 160 155 160 160 which seems good to me. I'm boosting around 16-19 psi on my small 16g, and I’ve been driving the car pretty hard lately, wot going to redline and always boosting, and i'm wondering because i'm driving it hard in boost i'm using up the oil??

can it be from boostin 18 psi on the small 16g

That has nothing to do with it becasue that turbo will push that amount with no problem.

A motor wil only use oil if it is leaking somewhere. If it leaks past the rings, valves seals, turbo seals, and so on. How much oil is it using like a quart a week or every few days? Did you replace the head also or does it have abunch of miles on it? how many miles are on the turbo and did you check for shaftplay?

If the shortblock is good then I would I would say it is probably valve seals. Most the time it will use oil slightly until they get really bad then it will use a good amount. It could also be the turbo if it has a good amount of shaft play. You said it doesnt smoke except for black but there may be some oil in there also. See if you can tune out the rich condition to see if it is burning oil and opposed to just dripping it.

i had all exhaust valve seals replaced last summer and they only have like 1000km on them. my 16g is new as well, i'll check it for shaft play and let you know

Whether or not you are using synthetic oil should not affect the oil consumption. Since your compression test seems to yield pretty good results and your valve seals have been replaced, my guess is that the turbo is eating the oil or you have a leak somewhere. If you run the car at idle can you see anything dripping underneath the car? Other than that I have no idea what could be wrong...how many miles does the turbo have on it?
