oil mess

I'm assuming it's leaking from the cap because it's a cheap autozone cap. It doesnt even tighten right.

Also, what is this little hole that oil is leaking from?

The little hole shouldn't normally leak oil, but if too much builds up in the valley of the valve cover, it pours out of that hole. You should be able to see the hole on the inside of the valley. The cap could be your leak, or a crack in the valve cover. They crack very easily when overtightened.

I've heard of doubling up on the gasket for a tighter seal. I ended up going with a cap that looks exactly like this. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/stant-oil-filler-cap-10088/10049226-P?searchTerm=oil+cap I got it at carquest, but it looks like the exact same thing. It has a nice thick gasket thats been leak free for years.

I wouldn't assume it's your cap unless you pull the cap off and find oil all over the valve cover where the cap sits. If you don't know how old the valve cover gasket is, I would start by replacing that. It could be the gaskets around the spark plug wells. It's not very expensive and doesn't take very long. Make sure you use RTV in the appropriate spots as per the service manual.

it was def the cap. purchased the one listed above and it fitsnice and tight.

Same thing happened to me, thought it was the cap and it turned out to be the smallest hairline crack on the valve cover. If the problem persists definitely clean that valve cover good, and inspect it thoroughly.
