Oil leak behind alternator?

I noticed it's always greasy/oily behind the alternator. Not really the whole block but just the bottom right portion of it. Any common symptoms relative?

If someone with experience can chime in with a reason and a solution I'd appreciated it.

Most times it is a valve cover gasket leak. check around the head and timing cover.

It does show signs of build up on lower timing cover.... vc the reason?

It could be the cam seals as well :thumb

Take off the upper timing cover that goes over the cam gears and see if you see any oil leaking beneath the cams.

Ok thanks. I'll do that tomorrow. I was gonna ask how to replace cam seals if they're bad but I'll just search.

Don't forget a leaky power steering pump, the number one killer of alternators.
