Oil ld be pump timing gear play

I have a 1992 laser rs and i'm replacing the timing belt and i seem to have play in my oil pump timing gear not play in and out or up and down but rotational play just a little. Dont know if this is ok or something is shoud be worried about please any info would be great.

Do you have balance shafts?

yes it is bone stock nothing wrong with it and not really wanting to eliminate balance shafts.

How much rotational play? Does your engine vibrate quite a bit?

Did make some weird noise thought it was the water pump but now that im into it im worried that this may be the problem barley any rotational play but if i turn it back and forth it will make a tapping noise. I guess a mm or less

Anyone?
