Hey I went today to change the spark plugs and oil in my 99 Eclipse GS and found when I poped the one spark plug wire off to get down to the spark plug it was basically swimming in oil. What can be done to fix this problem?

There are circular seals around the spark plug that seal between the cylinder head and the valve cover. You'll need to pop off the valve cover and put a new seal in... otherwise you might be able to get away with putting some RTV on your old seal.

BE VERY, VERY, EXTREMELY, SUPER careful in tightening the bolts on the valve cover. They are EXTREMELY easy to break.... think of it like it's very weak plastic. It WILL crack if you overtighten the bolts. Spec is 2-3 ft-lbs.

Yes, I had to replace a bolt once that was already broke on it and I broke the damn bolt the second time the third time I got it right I believe but im not a mechanic and what you said is sorta confuseing any way to put it in simpler or am I just going half to research on what you said :) Sorry <----- Newb :-/

Thank you

**EDIT** Nevermind I totally understand what you said. Is there a website that you know of or anyone knows of to where I can get a new seal or is this a junk yard type of deal?

Basically, go to an auto parts store like auto zone or something and pick up a new valve cover gasket. That will come with the the whole gasket and all the little seals u need. Also if u remove all the screws in the valve cover just carefully pry it off. those gaskets u see on it is what u will be replacing. :thumb:

Just remember if you remove the valve cover DO NOT reuse the valve cover gasket you will need to puchase a new one before you reinstall everything. Good luck and happy modding :thumb:
