oil form coolant tube

Just rebuilt my first 2.0 (1000's chevy ,ford.olds small and big block)so i'am not by far new to the rebuild and hi pro game but new to dsm. so why would oil come out from the water pump coolant tube . on my first start up i did not have the rad.hose hooked up and oil came running out ???????????? did i miss something or what, or is this normal on first start up for 2.0???????????

I'm a small block Chevy guy myself.

I'm willing to bet you put the head gasket on backwards. It isn't normal for oil to come gushing out upon start up after a rebuild.

Very possible will have to check but will do it all inboard , no need to pull , to hard to put back in , no space. 2.0 is a very diffrent little animal to rebuild. but what i can read you can make lots of hp. from a 4 banger.

Could it be a couple hyd. locked head bolts?
