Oil Filter STUCK

My oil filter is stuck.. BAD

I tried hammering a screw driver through it and pulling but that didnt work this time and made a massive hole.. From doing that over and trying to get it out.. The whole filter is tore up.. I dont have a tool to pull it either.. One is too small and the other wont grip..

Any ideas?

Its torn up pretty bad.

This happened to me a few yrs back. the exhaust was really close to the filter and just caked it on i tried every thing, oil filter wrench, Channel locks, plyers, screw driver, ECT.... So no matter what i did it wouldn't budge. Also i just tightened t by hand. I ended up havin to remove the OFH and using a air chisel to get it to come off. Not a fun night. hope it doesn't come to that. Good luck

+1 on those oil filter pliers. You can get them cheap at Walmart.

For future instances, I'll reiterate what others already said, coat the new filter with fresh oil, and it doesn't have to be super tight.

Besides, if you have the stock coolant oil cooler, if you over tighten it chances are you crushed the fins and now mixing the coolant with the oil.

On this side topic, I've seen mods where that center stud is removed, then a pilot hole drilled in the frame, then is tapped.

One then would put in that center stud, put in the bolt that the tapped hole was made for to put a 'scar mark' on the center stud.

Then the center stud was removed and a dimple was drilled where that 'scar mark was left by the bolt.

This allowed the bolt to actually lock down that stud so it will not come out during the filter removal.

I always just puncture a screwdriver through the side and it removes without a problem.

i just used penetrating oil and let it sit for 5 mins then it came off good......befor that a pipe wrench wouldnt take it off

Get it off yet? I just used channel locks when this happened to me a couple months ago and managed to rip that sucker off...
