I have a 1990 turbo with the factory external oil cooler. I have a large down pipe and now I need to have an exteral oil filter housing. I do not want a forward facing housing because I want to keep the factory oil cooler. Has anyone worked with the 1990 housings? Can I run the external filter from the two plugs in the filter housing.

You want an oil filter relocation or remote mount kit like the one seen here: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/368605-oil-filter-relocation.html#post152186567. Do a little bit of searching and you'll find what you're after.

There is no way to use the oil cooler lines/ports to do this or to use any other ports on the oil filter housing. Oil travels through the filter before it runs to the cooler so something must be at the original filter location to redirect the oil towards the ports for the external cooler.

^Thanks. I have searched and saw several threads on the relocation method and I have most of the parts already. I just wanted to make sure that there was no way to set up the relocation using the two plugged ports before I started fabbing up everything.
