I put a thread on here yesterday about my situation.Basically what it is is that i threw a rod on my 1g gsx and i bought a n/a block that has 2g turbo pistons 1g big rods and and a good machined crank etc... so its all good for turbo. So i am getting my old head to the machine shop for hot tanking, pressure testing, valve check and any work that needs to be done with the head will be good. What i need to know is, the block still has the n/a oil filter housing attached to it,so am i able to use the n/a oil fiter housing on my turbo set-up? I cant seem to figure out if there would be a clearance issue as well. And if not would i be able to swap my 1990 6 bolt turbo oil filter housing assembly from my blown block on to a n/t block with turbo internals? I have been on tuners for the last 24 hours researching all the different scenarios for this swap and this is the newest challenge,or is it not a challenge at all? Any help with this matter would be sooo appreciated y'all.:confused:

Your 6 bolt housing will not work on the 7 bolt engine. The bolt pattern is different. You can use the non turbo, you just won't have any oil cooling.

You will need a 7 bolt oil filter housing if you want to go that route. The turbo 63s use an oil cooler, the na doesnt have this. You may be able to add one though. Check some vendors or ebay to get an idea they pretty much screw on and you can attach whichever cooler lines you want. Here is what im talking about. I dont really know but it seems like not having an oil cooler would be a big deal,if not correct me if im wrong. Also the guy i bought the block from said that then n/t oil filter housing would get in the way of some turbo parts and i could just swap my 6 bolt housing on to it.That doesnt seem to make sense if i think of how my old oil filter housing was located, unless this one is in a different spot and i just dont realize it.Iguess what im trying ti ask is first if i NEED an oil cooler and second if i do go with the n/t housing if it would get in the way of anything on a turbo setup that ot wouldnt on a n/t setup?

I would use one, the turbo generates alot of heat, that along with the engine may be too much. Im sure it would work but i just dont know the consequences of not having one and id rather be safe than sorry on this. Those adapters are cheap, just throw one on with the nt housing and call it a day.
