2G Oil Filter Clog?

Simple question: could a clogged oil filter cause low oil pressure?

My oil pressure is going down to "L" and sits there and then shoots back up to normal while cruising. This happens a few times while driving. I'm thinking it may be just a bad sender but I did just replace my oil pan and this is when it started happening. Could it be possible some RTV got stuck in the filter or pump causing problems? The car runs fine even when it is low. No dummy light either.

Are you referring to the stock gauge? They're all over the place. My TSi awd stays at low at idle.

If the filter was clogged I think it might just read low ask the time, you should probably get a aftermarket one just so you can see the amount of pressure you have, in some chevys I've seen a bad filter cause low oil pressure..

Well it's never done this before I swapped the oil pan. And yes the stock gauge. It was always consistant and definitely never lower the half mark even at idle.

The stock gauge is not reliable, Eventually they all go wacky. My stock gauge always reads zero anymore in my 1g.

Well I got home from work and jacked her up and looked under and what do you know, the wire going to the unit is loose and coming off. I messed with it and oil pressure is back. I'll be replacing the wire. Gave me a good scare.
