So ... yesterday we started the first step of the rebuild on my car ... removing the engine for it's rebuild. Well we discovered a few, unpleasant things along the way.

For one, the lower connections on the radiator (the two smaller ones), are routed to each other, not connected to anything else. For two, the line coming down to the oil filter mount, has been JB Welded together.

Now, unfortunately, I now have no idea how this system was supposed to be routed. As hacked up as it looks now.

I don't suppose anyone could snap a few shots of what is supposed to go where? Or explain otherwise?

Thanks!

Touche!

I'll have to do that tonight when we're working on it, LOL.

I know the two small barbs on the radiator are for coolant lines for an auto trans.

Not sure about that part. This is an Auto, but it's a 1992, and it has a separate (apparently factory) transmission cooler.

Huh, I knew the 2g's had an external didn't know that 1g's had them too. My sentra has the trans lines going through there though.

That was the point behind my comment. There are so many possibilities of what's been done to the car as far as mods, etc...we really need to see what you have before we can offer advice as to what you have. :D

The OFH could be the stock one with the water lines bypassed, or a 91 model with the oil lines bypassed, etc.

Yeah, I'll snap a few tongiht before we pull the motor.

It sounds like you have a water cooled OFH. The two barbs coming from the OFH should have lines going to the radiator. You can get an OFH that has the openings for an oil cooler and lines. These are much better IMO.

the OFH does not have lines going to the radiator. They go to the water pipe.

Yeah, took a closer look last night and it is the water-cooled version. Think I'll be changing it over to a heavy duty air-cooled version. I'd need to replace the water lines anyways since the previous owner (read: idiot), JB welded the crap out of them.

Needs a new trans cooler as well, since this one is leaking ... everywhere.
