Official Bench Racing Thread (how fast is my car/how much HP can I expect)

I've never heard of 97 pump gas? Even if you do make 350hp you better find a way to put it to the ground. You will spin tire all day in first gear without suspension mods or an lsd. There's no way to estimate your horse power or people wouldn't make dynos. With stock camshafts you will be some what limited since you won't benefit from better flow. Which bigger camshafts help with that and a ported head.

thats what i though too, but the guy building my car told me he had a 2g talon with 440cc injectors making 350 to the crank so he doesnt see that with mine having a bigger turbo ehy it wouldnt be more.

and why would i not be able to achieve this power?

If this guy knows DSMs then he wouldn't say you can make 350 with 440's because they come with 450's stock. You should never go over 85% IDC to be safe. You can't achieve it because the injectors don't flow enough to put out that much hp. Sounds to me you have a lot of reading to do and so does the guy that has your car

No people can simulate using reviews from products.

Really makes no sense. Just because Injen shows 15hp on there CAI doesn't mean it will on your car, just because you put the said CAI on a car with a factory rated 250 hp doesn't mean you have 265...... Wow.

On a fresh filter, fuel table leaned out and a larger/rewired pump.. or with an adjustable regulator with base pressure cranked maybe but unlikely. The injectors and stock pump would be completely tapped out before then either way.

See above. Even less likely

No, no they cannot.

alright bud, i said 550cc injectors... everyone is flipping out when all i asked for is an estimate... i don't need a dyno sheet, i just wanna know if i can get 320-400 hp?

Hey guys, I've updated my mods list as best as I can.

I just got a black box flashable ECU and I'm about to get the Tactrix cable and start tuning.

Any suggestions or concerns I should be made aware of before I start tuning on my own?

What is a good realistic goal horsepower wise that i should shoot for.

Check out my mods list and share your thoughts!

Thanks! :thumb:

Tuning is a real bi***. Always keep an eye on knock correction. Higher waste gate duty cycle can cause a bigger turbo to surge. Injector scaling is VERY inmportant to get right. Couldn't figure out why my car wouldn't run, dropped my scale to matxh the injectors and boom, off to the races. Or should I say the sputtering misfiring boost surging barely idling... don't get dicouraged tho. I have her under control now, and the mods are really showing their worth. Its just not easy starting out.

Thanks for the tips! i've been reading and watching everything i can on tuning to learn the why's and how's and I'm very excited to start!
Do you tune with EcuFlash?

Sweet! Would you mind if I contacted you if I have questions or get stumped? Lol

And I don't really have a budget. I'm going to tune with what I have. Just trying to get a feel for what kind of tune vs how much HP I should run/shoot for.

Also mostly street/canyon driving. And some track in the near future!

Hi everyone, I recently did a 6 bolt swap on my gsx. Just about done with the project now. It's a shortblock with a balanced stock crank, scat h beam rods, je pistons. Block is bored .020 and has been milled and hot tanked. Running an 18g turbo, externally gated (1.0 spring) and hallman pro boost controller. mishimoto fmic. I have a stock head for right now. Car will be tuned and an apexi safc 2. Does anyone have a power guess if I tune it on 20ish lbs of boost?

Just so you know you aren't allowed to post those types of threads in the normal tech forums. We have a specific "bench racing" thread to post in. Here is the link: Official Bench Racing Thread

Edit: Sorry, saw the prob. member tag on you but didn't realize you have been around here for a year. You should know this already haha. I worded that more toward someone who had just joined but definitely ask your question over in that thread and people that are interested with chime in.

I think I'm partially to blame for this. I was looking for stock estimates for my 2G 6 bolt swap. After re-reading the post I realized it came off like I was bench tuning. Really I just wanted to know if there was any power difference between a 6 and 7 bolt. Besides design difference, I am not seeing any power gains stock, just that whole crank walking issue.

Ok, funny story. I was at the track many years ago and watched a good friend run 11's all day long. Last race of the day his car fell flat on it's face and died. Did not even cross the lines. Turned out he sucked in a crow, yes a crow. Put that in your tailpipe and bench tune it.

Sorry about that. I've been on here for a while. But I just started recently using the site on a daily basis. I'll look more into where I should post stuff in the future. Thanks for the advice
