I'm leaving in about 5 minutes for the dyno. I got my hands on a working miniDV camera so it'll be on tape. Vids will be in this thread when i get back!

Well, it didn't go all that well, my profec B wouldn't get me past 20PSI so i never got to tune up to there, then the MSD knock box went on the fritz and stopped working. AND the dyno owner kept insisting his wideband was accurate and mine wasn't, when i know my sensor is less than 20 hours old so with all that i spent way more time trying to get the fuel back that he had me pull out once he re-calibrated his sensor and found out that mine was right from the get-go.

I ended up at 22* timing and 20 PSI making a best of 342HP, but when we went for the real "power pull" to get SAE corrected it only made 332hp and 312ft/lbs.

If we would have had a knock sensor and had the Profec setup to pull the amount of boost i wanted everything might have been better as i would have been more willing to (and able to) push the limits a little more for pump gas. You have to take my dash half apart to get to the profec or would have put a manual one on it, and i guess i could have, but when the MSD box went on the fritz and i had no knock measure, i didn't really even want to touch the timing. I've got a J&S in the works though, found a brand new one in the box, never installed for sale because the kid blew up his car and sold it. So when i get that on and do my tune on the highway (the place i prefer to do it) I will go back and be sure to have better #'s for everyone.

If anyone wants video of a measly 332 horse pull let me know and I'll host it. I think I probably could have made better power on the boost i was at if i would have added more timing, (but again, with no monitor i won't push it on pump gas with alky... since I'm not sure ow far i can push alcohol, i don't want to find out the hard way Probably would have done better if i had some decent valve springs too, but they weren't in the budget. I wish i had never sold my last setup for money to build my motor for the 2nd time, because about 6 years ago, same turbo, ECU and all but on a 2g motor with a 1g head i made 468hp & 429ft/lbs on 28psi and 118 octane fuel with 26* peak timing.

So ultimately at the same 20 PSI i had been at and made 360 on a mustang 1700 series dyno came up ~30 short on the mustang dual roller setup he had today. And I came up roughly 70 horse short of my minimal goal to make 400hp on pump gas and alky. Needless to say I'm rather let down and pissed off that so much went wrong with the dyno session. I should have just shut down as soon as the knock sensor went out and came back another day because other than getting the AFR's correct ( which they were to start with) i accomplished nothing. I actually lost power over my last dyno session and i now have more parts...go figure. I'll wring it out good as soon as the J&S Safeguard gets here and i will get GOOD numbers pulled and posted! :D I just don't know how far i can push an M7 nozzle on 91 octane, never really messed with it before*shrugs*

Thats some bad luck. Hey, dont worry about, just think - next time not much more can go wrong!

Good luck next time!

Id post the vid anyways. A lot of us would enjoy seeing your car in action.

cool, it's been a long day, i'll edit and post either late tonight or first thing tomorrow

If you're planning to boost in the mid or high 20s I wouldn't recommend the profec. It doesn't hold a consistent boost. It is over and under boost. Just go with mbc.

I wondered why i see a lot of big horse power guys on here running MBC's. I'm only one of abotu 4 people i know running an EBC. And back when the last motor was dyno'd i ran a MBC because that's all i had.

I really wish i knew the limits of the alcohol/water mix, and if there was a difference someof hte different liquids i can run through my alky system (a.k.a. I NEED TO SEARCH LOL )

I got 3 extra PSI out of it on my way home though and it actually felt like it was missing, but not like it was blowing out the spark fully. I will investigate tomorrow, i'm starting to think i wasn't properly loaded down on the dyno.

Thats to bad that so many things went wrong, hopefully next time will be better. What fluid are you running with your meth injection? I'd defently recommend mixing your own, if your not. This way you know for sure what ratio your actually running. I had one of the Greddy Profec Type S EBC's & it was a complete POS. Had to send it back twice for warranty repair within the first year of owning it. Needless to say I sold the 3rd replacement I got. Right now I'm running the Apexi AVC-R & would recommend it 100% especially for a fwd. It has abit of a learing curve & the users manuel is pretty useless but with some google searching you will come across lots of better info. The ability to tune boost via rpms is great & can't beat having different levels of boost for each gear (especially for a fwd), that are completely automatic. The max amount of boost you can run is based on your wastegate pressure (like all EBC's) but with my 17psi base spring I can hit 26psi, with duty only set around 50%.

I need to get a stronger base rate spring but i have tried keeping the * pounder as lng as possible so i can at least try and hook up in 1st and 2nd.

I've installed a few of the older AFC style boost controllers, but most people have never adjusted them from when they were put in. I never did spend too much time on it, i got frustrated with teh self learning thing it was supposed to do for gear dependant boost levels. But i got it figured out. I think i'll run an MBC until i can get a few other little things worked out and shoot for a higher number next time

I went to sublime, originaly i meant to go to the same dyno i used before, so i could be more consistant but i couldn't get ahold of the guy who bought EJ's Dyno Shop because they moved it and don't have a number listed. All i know is that the owner of Corvette Specialties here in omaha owns the Dyno now, the one i made my big numbers on anyway.

Yeah I went to sublime as well ended up not even tuning my car! Pulled it down from Sioux Center for them to program my Megasquirt got there and told me it would take them more time to do than what they thought( I told them before hand it needs a complete tune from base up etc.) Said it take them at least 2-3 months to look at it.) So loaded it back on the trailer and went back home. So this spring I'm going up to LSE performance in Minneapolis they specialize in Megasquirt.

I had just installed a AEM boost controller in a customers car the day before the dyno at AMS. I get there and they cant get it to hold boost steady. Well we ended up putting on a $30 MBC and it worked better. And the AEM i supposed to support up to 75psi LOL.

Still working on editing down the video, trying to decide if i want to fool with learnign the effects on the new editing program i have or if i'm just cut and pasting all the clips to the shortest time line i can make.
