2G OEM pistons with four rings?

Tearing down the engine. I bought a set of Manley standard rings thinking they would be ok. Turns out standard Manley rings DO NOT work on OEM pistons, only Manley pistons, lucky me. Anyways, I am looking around for a set of oem ones and the ones I see only have 4 rings. The ones I took out of my engine had five rings on them. I am sure they are 2g pistons because of the markings on them, 63DTF1. Can anyone think of a reason I have five rings and not four before I buy a set of OEM ones (with 4 rings) and they turn out to be wrong too?

They should all have 3 rings. The oil ring is 3 piece.

You should have:
top compression ring
second compression ring
oil ring side rail
oil ring expander
oil ring side rail.


If you have different maybe you have a set of total seals in it? The only thing that has more than 3 rings are old old and industrial type stuff. flat head fords, heavy equipment, tall deck 360bbc, OTR trucks. ect.

I was certain all came with 3 rings the third being a 3 piece as well. The old ones and the Manley ones that won't work have 3 but here it says "Sold as a set of 16 rings as pictured for all four pistons." and the picture even shows only 16 total. It threw me way off.
