i am re-assembling a block that someone else took apart and deemed unfixable. now i replaced the crank and had it sent out to make sure all my clearances are ok and everything checks out. now my question is i have rebuilt other motors where they put an arrow in the piston top to point which direction the piston is supposed to face. this particualar engine is a 7 bolt 99 and the pistons apear to have a letter "possibly"t" and a few numbers on them. my quesion is which direction do the numbers point towards. the intake or exaust side? i do not have acces to a manual. thank you!

There is sometimes an arrow cast into the top of the piston, this points toward the timing belt. The larger valve reliefs toward the intake side.

good call on the valve reliefs. there are definitely no arrows on these pistons unfortunately.

I'm sure the 7 bolt the same but in a 6 bolt ...With the motor facing the way it would be in the car in front of you... The Arrow will be facing to the Right ...(Ie. timing belt side) and the big T should be pointing away from you "upsidedown" and the pistons should be on the Con rod with the arrow facing the lettering on the side

thank you sir! pistons were never removed from the rods. thankfully. :thumb:

well there should be indents on em for the valves. line them up that way.
