their hood quality sucks, you can get better OEM hood for 350 with free shipping (not sure if they still free shipping but it was when i got mine) at http://www.splittingimagez.com/

Well, that deal isn't going on right now. It's listed at 450 on that site but it's authentic VIS - I might call and see if that includes shipping.

The prosteets seem pretty reputable and rate their hoods as A (Class) cf hood. Why do you say prosteets hood quality sucks?
I'll probably end up going the ebay route since I'm seeing lot of VIS cf hoods on their right now. Booya

i was asking around town, some kid has a hood from them and it is really poor quality after about a year on the car. one of the corners started fraying too. i dunno it might be cause hes an idiot but i would go with name brand with a hood, you save less then 100$ buyin a knock off, but with VIS you know youve got top quality

nah, i like getting direct answers in my own thread. anyways thanks for the help guys i have a better idea of where and what to buy now

Translation: I'm too lazy to search. ;) Just kidding. Good luck with the hood.

Hey how is the quality on those hoods from franks fiberglass?

I was thinking about ordering a hood for my 91 TSI....

hey,

What kind of Carbon Fiber hood do you want
a) fiberglass base with carbon layed on top and bottom with a metal frame?
B) Carbon fiber top with fiber glass frame?
C) a true full carbon fiber hood?

You might want to ask questions about how the hood is made and what exacully its made from.

The cheaper you go thecrappyer the hood will be.

Do some reseach, cuz my hood weighs 5 pounds.

and no matter what anyone says use hood pins, trust me

Rob

Well, http://www.frankscustomfiberglass.com/ site kinda sucks but that doesn't mean his products do. He definately has the best prices on hoods that I've seen though. But, I'm impressed with prosteets quick replies and professionalism thus far. On there site the hoods certainly don't appear to be cheaply made and I wish I could find someone that has bought one to see what they think of them. A friend of a friend that has one just isn't enough to go off of. It's toss up but I want one BAD! VIS appear to be the way to go but I have yet to find a reputable sellers for these.
http://www.splittingimagez.com/ has them listed for 450 but w/ shipping I'm looking at about 540-560 from them. You just can't beat prosteets prices and they are a dsmtuners sponser so I'll probably go thru them. I'll keep theads updated and will let everyone know since nobody seems to have one yet.

no not all man, i made my own thread cuz threads from before are out of date, dont ask my specific question and dont have direct answers to my own question. so searching would be pointless... i dont what ppl have with this do a search thing either help or dont say anything. but what ever its cool. i might buy sometihng else instead of a carbon fiber hood i was just curious which one i should get and where its cheapest. maybe when i get extra dough i could buy one. alright thanks for the help again. im out
