Im currently doing a stock rebuilt. The block has been bored .020 over. Pistons are .020 over as well. I need to know what to gap the piston rings. I didnt get any paper with the pistons or ring to tell what to gap then.

Let me know thanks

From the Mitsu Service Guide
Install the piston ring into the cylinder bore. Force it down
with a piston, its crown being in contact with the ring, to
correctly position it at right angles to the cylinder wall.
Then, measure the end gap with a feeler gauge.
If the ring gap is excessive, replace the piston ring.

Standard value:

No. 1 0.25-0.40 mm (.0098-.0157 in.)
No.2 0.20-0.35 mm (.0079-.0138 in.)
Oil 0.20-0.70 mm (.0079-.0276 in.)

Limit:
No. 1, No.2 0.8 mm (.031 in.)
Oil 1.0 mm (.039 in.)

Bumping this back up, as my head hurts from calculations.

I'm in the process of ringing my .020 overbore NPR pistons (stock) to factory spec. The 1st ring is all within spec (just not equal yet), but the second ring is too large. Max spec limit is .35mm and I'm getting well over .40mm. These are brand new rings that haven't been touched other than me checking the gap. Am I not figuring in the bigger bore and that's why these are bigger than the factory spec or what? I'm just using the spec from the post above, but I've been reading that I need to calculate the fact that I'm using 85.5mm pistons instead of 85mm correct? I've read to many formulas to figure this out right now. :banghead:

So just remeasured cylinder 2 for the 1st/2nd ring.

1st ring- .010"
2nd ring- anywhere from .020" low to .024" high

Obviously the 2nd ring is well above the factory limit. The 1st ring is still within spec, but much larger than what most people have been saying they're running.

Reading the FSM/above posted again I missed that the 2nd ring also has a limit of .8mm, so seeing as how mine are .480mm, even though that's larger than the factory spec, I'd still be in the clear correct? I just see having that large of a gap causing excessive blowby.
