Odd noise before stopping??

whats up guys I'm having an odd issue with my 98 gsx. My breaks work great but right before my car comes to a stop I'll hear a crunching sound? I replaced all 4 breaks and rotors and it still happens. The noise isn't consistent it goes on and off kind of like a warped rotor sounds like. It happens when it hits a sertaint spot on my rotor then stops for a second and comes back. It only happens right before my cars going to stop but I have no clue what it is!

Did you check the front end for loose or worn components ? Balljoints, strut mounts etc. Bounce the front end up and down or have a friend do it while you listen for noise. Also you could drive and have someone walk right next to the car while you stop to get an idea where the noise is.

Have you done any brake upgrades? I mean like cross drilled rotors or anything. I have for that the rotors on mine will make a similar sound and mine are all upgraded

All breaks were replaced with stock rotors and just a good set of break pads. And all the suspension is new as well

Check control arm bushings for any type of play or have someone watch the wheel to see if it moves at all front to back.

I just found out last night that I need a driver side tie rod could that maybe be it?

Only way to know is to replace it since it's bad anyways then see if the noise is still present

If it was a wheel bearing he would also have some sort of noise going down the road or even an low speeds not when just when he's almost at a complete stop.


Does the car make any noises while turning a corner?

You could have a stuck pin in your caliper. Did you grease the slide pins? mine were all gunked up from the previous owner i had to clean my caliper out and polish the pins.

The wheel bearings have both been replaced and no when I turn there are no odd noises. Only that tick noise I hear sometimes moving from a roll

Get a video and post it if you can. That will help out greatly, so you aren't on a wild goose chase!
