Odd idle

I just installed a new t-stat because my upper rad hose kept getting bloated and now my idle changes. After driving my car if i come to a stop or put my car in park my idle will be like 1000-2000 rpms.. If i give the car gas my idle goes back down to the norml 650-750. ANy help here would be appreciated. All i did was change my t-stat. It was fine before.

Is this when the car is warmed up? How long has it been doing this?

Log your coolant temp and tps, those two will help determine the problem further.

What T-stat did you put in? Is it a really low temp opener?

You could have a malfunctioning FIAV but I doubt it.

You could have a malfunctioning ISC but I also doubt it.

My guess is your throttlebody needs adjustment or the cables need lube.

Have you burped the cooling system after changing the thermostat?

Ah good point, an airbubble hanging out in the FIAV would cause it to not get hot enough to close off the air bypass.

Ok. I dont know a lot about cars but i did know i had to burp it. WHen i had to stop burping i didnt know. I just let my car idle for like 15 minutes with the rad cap off. It just kept letting air out. I got sick of sitting there so i just put the cap back on. I used whatever t-stat was available at advance auto. It was around 15 dollars. i still have the box i will check it when i get home from work. when i stopped burping there wasnt any air coming out.. so i figured it was good. As for the throttle body needing adjusted. I dont understand why it would if it was fine before i changed my tstat. THe only thing that happened was drained my coolant and put 50/50 back in. Also my upper rad hose is still getting bloated. Cant seem to figure that out.

Well its fixed now. I have always had an exhaust leak on the downpipe to the the catback and when i would pop my hood i heard it. It got the point i was losing power. GO figure that my xs power exhaust manifold cracked after 7 months on my car and only had a t25 on. Last time i buy that crap.
