hey all, i recently did some work to my steering/suspension and have solved a few problems i was having, but have gained a couple as well now. so wanted to see what you thought of it.

i bought the car, found it had a blown strut, didn't have funds to replace it for about a month, so was driving on it during that time. anytime i hit a pothole, or even a slightly raised manhole cover, or any bump period my car would lurch to one side or the other and i could feel the wheel hopping horribly.

fast forward to two days ago, and since then i have now replaced the passenger tie rod end link, the driver side strut, and accompanying strut bar link.

went for a drive and all seemed 100% better, until i hit the highway. at about 75 i noticed my car kind of swaying from the left to the right, and once for a couple seconds it completely tracked off to the left, and i had to correct it.

i don't see any other visually bad parts, and i don't have excess play in the steering that would cause this, so I'm at a loss.

also probably worthy to mention, the strut was partially bent when i removed it, probably due to it being completely blown and driving on it for a while, but wanted to mention it in-case it was relevant.

anyone with some info or an idea of something to check would be awesome :hellyeah:

All your struts are probably shot.

If you messed with the tie rods at all you need to get an alignment.

also probably worthy to mention i can feel it pulling to one side now when i take off. right side if i remember correctly.

me and my boss redid the alignment afterwards. and i measured the old and new tie rod end, and counted the turns as well, all the same.

im sure being as old as they are, most of my struts arent in the best shape, but they are at least rebounding as they should. and from what i saw there were no other ones leaking fluid but the one i replaced

Alignment .
I'm sure your tires aren't very happy either.
I'll bet you need to replace all your strut.

end of next month i'll have some funds to throw at it, struts, tires, proper alignment, etc, but for now was seeing if anyone else has had a similar issue and resolved it without doing those.

i hold faith in my bosses alignment skills, as he has worked as an alignment tech at a local shop for a while, and aligned a Taurus i bought at auction and got her dead nuts, but when money permits i will be taking it in to a shop.

When you say you redid the alignment, what did you set it to? The wandering on the highway is the classic symptom of zero toe combined with squishy rubber bushings.

i honestly dont know what he set it to, i let him do his thing since he's done it before and i havent. how hard would it be to adjust myself?

what bushings should be replaced?
