OBX intake manifold

i was thinking about it but im just gonna port a stock manifold and then powdercoat it cause you never know if you will have clearence issues with strutbars and other mods or if the sensor ports are actualy in the same position cause there aint no extra wire on the harness to reach anywhere else

I'd think porting the stock one would show almost the same advantages and gains with the n/a cars. I thought about getting a manifold for my GS, then I just went with nitrous :p I'm sure you'd get a gain, but it's also ebay, and OBX makes good products, but their follow up support isn't to well in my opinion.

how much is the cost to port and polish the stock manifold? i dont want the bling bling in the obx... but if the price for porting and polishing the stock manifold is cheaper than 200 then for sure i will go for it.. i just opted for the obx just for the price.. can anyone who has done it before can u pls tell me the price for porting and polishing it ... thank u :)

good for u... i am also running out of money.. but i read somewhere that this mod has to be done properly.. so i dont want to screw up and look like an ass :( i rather have someone do it for me LOL :p i am not a racer and all.. i am just going to use this car as a daily driver.. so i dont mind waiting.. i am also planning to tune my ecu by sending it to howell.com that is going to cost me around 300 dollars... these are the following mods in my car:-

1997 eclipse gs
aem cai
obx header with down pipe
high flow cat
apexi N1 catback exhaust
short shifter

i will just do few more effective and cheap mods and be happy with it :D

I have the obx manifold and havnt installed it yet it is not simply bolt on but has nice opened up polished runners ,and an improvement over stock but it requires to drill and tap a hole for map sensor but if any of you have looked at the stock intake manifold then you know how rough and little the openings are i bought it to take full advantage of my head porting.

that obx manifold that u have, look at the tb outlet........52mm right? Yea so u can't use an aftermarket tb on it.........

Yes you can you just match the it to the t.b not to hard and it looks bling and was only $200.

you mean u would have to port the manifold.........u mean the one u just bought because it was an improvment over stock? ;) What is that manifold made out of?

the welds arnt even that bad and i think the reason the t.b is so small is so people with stock t.bs match up and if you go bigger just port match it. It is an improvement over stock i dont know if you ever seen the stocker but it sucks I havn't ran the track with my setup yet ill let everyone know my times im gonna run with the stock ecu and then when my AFXR ecu is here hopefully in a week! Ill see if its as good as i hear. By august i hope to be running crane 18's with valve spring's and lash adjusters and ill scream all the way to 8k with some proper tuning of course. :dsm: Matt

Atleast right now it is I have no emissions in oklahoma, So dont have to worry about the smog nazi's so im taking advantage of the AFXR and no cat with a header. As for the #18's when their on its going to make it difficult as a daily driver I realy havnt heard of anyone running the 18's im sure ill definitley break deep into 14's My car has way more kick than it did and i ran 15.7 before all my motor work i just been racing on the streets lately i got beat barely by an acura 3.2 cl type s I actually pulled him in 3rd then he put half a car by 100 we went from a 20 mph roll i was suprised other than that i have been puttin down every honda i have come across im suppose to run a integra in the next day or so and i hope to take him out i also have lots of weight reduction id say 200 lbs off then i had.

Crap... I'm surfing ebay and came across it. Almost made an empulse buy, but decided to research it. I did a forum search here... Then used Mikes link to 2gnt...Well I'm glad I did, the damn thing MIGHT not clear if your using a strut bar, you have drill your own tap for the map sensor and the damn things only 52mm... I HAVE A 60MM THROTTLE BODY!! The damn thing should atleast be better than stock. There's a fully built (dirty as hell! the only clean thing in his bay IS the damn manifold) turbo'd 420A there that has one, he didnt feel a damn thing. He also says the vaccum ports are the wrong size on the back side. And you'd think having a OBX fuel rail would make everthing all good... Nope the damn thing doesnt fit it! This thing has great potential but it needs way more R&D and tweaking... I think OBX has forgotten what "direct bolt-on" means. STAY AWAY FROM IT, OR ATLEAST READ THE POSTS ON 2GNT AND HERE BEFORE BUYING IT AND MAKE YOUR CONCLUSIONS.

Thats the same damn except its like $300 more than the one I found. OBX needs to step up, first they send me the wrong catalytic converter, now they almost hook me for some BS part that doesnt do anything but look better than my stock manifold... :thumbdown :dsm: :talon:

what about the venom intake manifolds for our cars? i know venom makes one. does anyone have a venom intake manifold?

OMG holy $h1t... i dont know how good they work but they better work real good the cheepest one i found on the web was over 400 bones..... it says it matches up to as big as a 65mm tb i think it said, and thats all well and good but it didnt happen to say in any thing that i read about if it matched up to all the sensors or not... ill keep lookin and see if i cant find out, becaue im kinda intrested in it as well, i was looking to port out my stock intake but they just want way tooo much money round here  300 bones and he said he couldent even do the whole thing :barf:
