Are you just trying to pull codes or are you going to be logging as well?If you are just pulling codes go to radio shack and buy a 12volt buzzer for like 2 dollars and then some alligator clips and hook one up to pin 1 the other to pin 12 and count the beeps then check your manual and it will tell you what the codes are!

I have an analog VOM meter (meter with the needle) and two alligator clips that I've modded that would hold the test leads. I then clip the alligator clips to the test points mentioned above, set the voltage to 15VDC on the VOM and turn on the key.

I then look at the swings of the needle since that OBI readings from the ECU repeats itself continually. Then take the swings and match them up in the CHilton book to get my code for which sensor is fubaring up on me.

With this self diagnosis, I've cleared up 3 sensors that were giving my Ply hiccups due to the CEL light was on. After clearing up these sensor issues, goodbye CEL light.

Then, disconnect the negative off the battery for 15 seconds to clear out the ECU.

I think ODB1 is the least of my worries. DAMN YOU KARMEN VORTEX!

I have seen some ODB1 scanners so its not like they don't exist.
