With the new inspections in NY my 1998 Eclipse GSX has yet to see an inspectionsince i bought it. All of my mods would not have an effect on a check engine light, and all the emissions pieces are still connected on the car. When i bought it i knew it threw a code ( TPS ) so i changed the sensor and the light has been off ever since... 2,000 miles later the car is still failing due to it not completing a "drive cycle". I followed the NY state packet on how to do a drive cycle correctly and still the inspection station comes up failing me due to "SYSTEM NOT READY".. All 5 of the emissions tests will NOT perform. Anyone else having a problem with there car and NYS inspections??? It would be one thing if the car was not unning well, or if i knew ofa problem but how can i fix somthing that isnt broken? Runs great... but the computor is too stupid to check itself, i have a 96 camaro as well as my eclipse and even after the car was sitting all winter in pieces, it passed the firsts time with headers larger Y-pipe, no cat, and a full exhaust... Who would have figured that the mitsu would fail even thought everything is in 100% working order, and meets ALL OBD II / State law emission regulations. If anyone has any ideas / experiences with this please let me know.
