I am looking into getting a code reader. I have looked at everything from the Schucks/Kragen/Checkers special to snapon. I am just trying to decide what I want and what it's worth to me.

I know I want OBD I and II.
I'd like to be able to do domestic and foreign OBD I.
I'd love something that could hook up to a laptop for some really detailed functions.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

So far this looks like the best deal, but it wouldn't do a 1g DSM... Which I guess sin't that had to do with a volt meter...

I would use a Snap On MT2500. (Snap On Brick as we called it.) We used it on all sorts of vehicles at WyoTech.

We also used some OTC Genisys, a Matco, and another Snap On called the Modis. But the Brick is the cheaper of them all.

I have the AutoXray Ez scan 5000, it`s ok for basic code gathering, & minimal data display. Our Snap-on Mt 2500 at the shop is far superior, as it has a built-in database for diagnostics & troubleshooting. For the money, the AutoXray is pretty good . . . :talon:
