I have a question for the people that had there o2 go bad on them and made them run rich. could you still boost? because i got a cel code of 0170 and ive narrowed it down to a bad 02 so i pulled it out and it was done for. and i cant boost at all and its hard to drive the car period. so i was wondering if the 02 could cause this.
thanks

the o2 sens. job is to keep the car running 14.7a/f's at idle and steady acceleration,at
wot the ecu dosnt look at the o2 trims.

My car would stall and it would bong alot. I don't know if it was my o2 senser but when I changed it, my problems were solved. just change it and see what happens. Its only like 50 bucks or so at auto zone. That would be one less thing to worry about.

I wouldn't recommend the autoparts store for a replacement like the o2. Get a brand new oem piece. As to driving like excrement my car has a bad o2 currently which needs change but my car is running strong, although i will change it soon for the sake of maintenance and slightly poor gas mileage.

yea thats what im saying.....with o2 my car makes 445hp......with out o2 my car makes 445hp..11.5 a/f's
with and without.

My car ran like poo when I had no o2 in it. So im angry now LOL. Ill have to reasearch this do you have any links?

Unless you drive your car at WOT all the time, you will be affected by a dead O2 sensor.

A dead O2 sensor alone should not make the car completely undriveable, so it's possible that there are some other things going on as well. You should start fixing what you know is bad and then test for anything else that could be wrong, otherwise you will be chasing your tail around problems.

Do NOT get an Autozone brand O2 sensor--stick with the OEM one.

Can't beat the prices at oxygensensors.com. Mine works like a charm. PITA to disconnect the hidden plug, but not too bad. When you know a part is bad on your car, fix it.:thumb:

I'm not sure if the ECU will enter limp mode for a bad O2 sensor code, but it may...even at WOT when it would normally be in open loop mode.

And yes, the car will not use O2v in open loop mode. The narrowband is only good for keeping stoich AFR, and stoich AFR is too lean on a turbo car that's boosting, so it just relies on the fuel map. That's why boost leaks are bad; the ECU doesn't know it's running rich in open loop mode. But I digress...
