How complex you want to get? Bad mileage is one, fouled plugs could happen too. Luckily O2 sensors usually go bad by reading lean, causing the car to go rich. Not real good for the cat or MPG, but better than going lean.

If you have a way of graphing sensor outputs you can find crosscounts and reaction times, but simple DVOM tests are a little limited. Usually the meter reads too slowly to get a good reading, but you can try measuring the WOT reading.

I'm not sure what graphing options are available for 2G cars. There are lots of scan tools for OBD2 cars that could test it for you though.
