So, a simple job of replacing the O2 sensor up by the engine has turned into a nightmare. I have a '95 Eagle Talon TSi fwd, and NO ONE, not even the dealership, can give me the same sensor that is on my car. I even gave the dealership the VIN, and I still get the same one that Autozone and O'Reilly gives me, which isn't the same one that is on the car.

The O2 Sensor on my car has 2 black wires, 1 white wire and 1 blue wire. It is connected to the car where it has 1 red wire, 1 yellow wire, 1 black wire and 1 white wire. Every O2 Sensor I try to buy has 2 white wires, 1 black wire and 1 gray wire.

I assume that whoever owned the car before me did some crazy mod there and it is wrong. I don't have a problem splicing the correct O2 Sensor into the car, but I need to know which colors on the O2 Sensor go to which colors on the car. Will someone please look at there's and let me know which colors go with which?

sounds like thedealership even gave you the wrong sensor. i had the same problem finding the correct one. after going through autozone, carquest, etc... it finally cost me $110 from the dealership. i can get you a mitsubishi part number if you wish. perhaps you could order one then.

i bet the wires on the o2 sensors you did buy werent long enough anyway either eh?

The color of the wires don't make a difference. The O2 sensor will still perform well, I've had good luck with the Bosch sensors.

The two stock black wires are hooked up to the to white wires. This is the heater element - it's power (negative and positive). The polarity doesn't matter, that's why they're not colored.

IIRC, the stock blue wire hooks to the grey wire, and the stock white wire hooks to the black wire.

The sensors come with an instruction manual for all of this stuff.

bosch is the way to go they should match up color wise, I have a 2g the same color o2 wires and the bosch o2 sensor had the same color code, but it should not mater to much, the 2 same color wires are heat wires or something like that, just make sure you figure out what one is the signal wire, If you real need more help, I have the box with the part number and the step by step instructions, hope this helps!

yeah you could match the 2 white wires to the 2 black ones. or if you dont feel like doing that then next time that you go to the auto parts tell them its for an eclipse and all the colors will match. it happened to me. i went to 3 different auto parts and got the wrong one when i said it was for a talon, but got the rignt one when i said it was for an eclipse, go figure. I dont get it.

Just go to the mitsu stealership and tell them an o2 sensor for a 95 GST. I have to do that now w/ my talon when i buy parts from there b/c i have a talon and its not the same according to them

Thanks everyone! You have been a tremendous help. I will go to the Mitsubishi dealership first and give that a try, and if that STILL doesn't work I will just cut-n-splice a Bosch according to your directions.

Hey man if that doesnt work, cuz it didnt for me, then search a few of our DSM websites.....Autozone and Advance never have what I need and the dealership is stupid and overpriced...........I think I bought my new o2 sensor from DSMotorsport.com, they sent me exactly what i needed, dont give up hope and go ghetto, you'll regret it in the future...........

That's how I finally feel about my O2 Sensor! I did like you guys suggested and bought an O2 Sensor for an Eclipse GST from Autozone, and it worked like a charm. It was a little hard getting the original O2 Sensor out with 134,000 miles on it, but nothing a saws-all, hammer and impact wrench couldn't handle. ;)

My air/fuel ratio gauge is finally reading correctly. Time to go tune!
