o2 external dump does not help control boost creep?

Ok instead of thread jacking i decided to start a new one, based on the evoiii 16g boost creep thread.

Someone in there mentioned that using an external dump o2 housing doesn't help control boost creep, but actually makes it worse.

Now I find this hard to believe because AFAIK, controlling boost creep is about giving the wastegate path the least amount of flow resistance, so that more air passes through it instead of the turbine.

Considerint what I've just said, how is using an o2 dump worse for controlling boost creep??

Unless the flanges doesn't mate well causing turbulance and air to backed up behind the flapper.

a proper port job on the turbo is the more essential of the 2
Very good :thumb: , but a proper port job will have no need for an o2 dump. Basically, imo people either dump for NOISE or they were mislead into thinking it will solve their boost creep. Either a external on manifold (preferably re-routed) or a complete/proper port job is what is needed to cure boost creep, even an external wastegate mounted on o2 requires proper porting of the turbine inlet.

port the wastegate area of your o2 housing and buy a bigger wastegate flapper.............that will almost without a doubt fix boost creep.....
Not exactly true. The biggest cause of boost creep is the poorly designed entrance to the wastegate path in the turbine inlet. The key is to port the inlet so there is a directly path to the wastegate entrance guiding/forcing air to take the wastegate route when flapper opens. Yes, you still have to port the o2 housing, enlarge the path, port behind to flapper area.....etc, but if you missed the turbine inlet, anything you do after that including a external mounted on o2 will not be a guarantee.

Port the EVO III 16G turbo and port the EVO 02. If it is not ported or "properly ported" an external wastegate on a 02 won't help boost creep.

This is what FP has on their website
"Note: You cannot select the "Ported with 34mm wastegate flapper" option for the EVO3 style 7cm turbine housing. The EVO3 7cm housing has a redesigned wastegate passage, and as such, does not require the larger 34mm wastegate flapper to control boost creep."
