Not the quater panel but the?

hey guys i have some rust on my eclipse gs 97. its not the quarter panel itself. its below that . you know where the side skirt goes on well along the bottom there what is that called? anyone know?

the quarter panel goes all the way to the rocker panel, is that the term your looking for.

yes i think thats it! thanks! u think junkpards would cut out good metal? or is it something i am going to have to fab myself?

A junkyard will cut it out, but it will be pricey. If you feel confident you can make a piece to fit and you have the materials and welder, I'd make it. A decent body shop could also make a patch panel.

i dunno what to do really. if i should get rid of the car or just repair it. i never welded before though. but i cant afford for a shop to do this for me now either

If you've never welded then I wouldn't try to make one. How bad is the rust, can you drive the car, until you have some money to fix it?

yea i can drive it. but i am in the middle of painting it. lets just say its a big hole. both sides are the same way. i guess theres always that first time
