just had the head done. got it put back together and now its not starting.. it is blowing white smoke from the intake pipe. not sure what the problem would be

thanks for the help

Sometimes when we do a rebuild, the valves will not close all the way until the lifters collapse. We usually turn the cams over by hand quite a few times and they will start to close. Lastly once its rebuilt, you should have tried a basic water test to see how the new seats fit to the valves.

If you just rebuilt the head today, maybe letting it sit overnight will collapse the lifters, and you could possibly get different results tomorrow. If not, defiantly a compression test, then follow it with an oil compression test, to see if its rings..

Keep it real,

Ive had teh same problem just swapping cams. it will show ZERO psi if the lifters bleed out, just as it would with bent valves, so good call...they usually are fine after you crank it over 20 times or so and let it sit overnight like Jon said. If tomorrow you dont fire up...do the comp test...or better yet...pull the VC off. If you have bent valves youll be able to pop the rockers off with ease. The onlly thing that has me thinkin valves is the smoke coming out the intake. Check it out in the morning and get back to us.
