Noob exhaust setup issues

I want to put a N1 exhaust for my stock 97 GSX. I am also going to be getting a downpipe. Here is my problem.....If the N1 is 3", will it bolt directly to my stock cat? If I get a 3" downpipe w/built in o2 housing, will it also bolt onto my turbo and stock cat? Or will I need to get a 3" cat?

Basically.... do all the dioameters have to be the same? Does Apex make a downpipe that does not eliminate the cat? Can you mix and match brands without major fitting issues?

I can tell you this much... the N1 cat-back and downpipe bolt together.. so there is no cat left. As far as bolting on to the stock o2 sensor it should do so if it is made for your car.

how loud is the car after eliminating the cat?

The rear section of the exhaust is really what gives it its noise. So cat or no cat a 3" rear exhaust section will be loud.
